What's up

Playing with rabbit in Jungle Farm

Riding on carousel

I haven't written anything for such a long time...the line is not so good in our apartment and mom doesn't seem to be in any rush to do anything (including uploading my photos). We've been here for over 2 months and we have adapted to our new routine/life here..waht do I do all day long? Lots of things, besides playing with my petshops I'm forced to do bits of work/study, mom says since I'm starting school soon I must be prepared.

My afafa is busy as ever, in fact busier than ever! He goes to work in the morning and only comes back near midnight, luckily we stay here so we get to see him during meal times and sometimes if I am not too sleepy I'll stay up and wait for him.

Bukit Gambang

Hi...this is me at the main entrance of our new home in Bukit Gambang, Kuantan. Mom took this photo in the middle of the afternoon, she said to get a clearer view but it was sooo hot! I love the toucan, it's cute. We are staying in one of the apartments which is just a walking distance to afafa's office. This place is huge, there are swimming pools (mom said wading pool), mini carnival (with carousel), video games, gym (someone wants to go there one day), karaoke rooms and others. The water park is also nearby but I haven't got the chance to go yet as my afafa is busy. Afafa is a lot busier than he was at the island because there are a lot of people coming to this place!
Well...I still have a lot to explore. Mom has promised to take me to the Jungle Farm (just infront of the resort complex), maybe one day I shall try horse carriage ride or even horse ride!

Again....

We moved again!!! This time to a big resort complex. Afafa said he's given new assignmant and will be based in this new place. Pity mom as she has to pack again when she's just about to unpack everything. I believe she doesn't complain as we get to stay in a 2-bedrooms apartment, more space for us and I have my own room!

Tonight I shall go exploring and I will write more next time (with pictures).

Journey

We have checked in at afafa's new work place yesterday.  It  was quite a journey as the weather is very hot, we made a stop at Mesra Mall and met Uncle Azam for lunch. I also have a new petshop (kangaroo) courtesy of mom. We arrived at the Hotel late evening  and was immediately shown to our room. The Hotel was okay...well..we are still adjusting to the new environment. I like the swimming pool...it has a big bucket that splashes out water and there's a rainbow tunnel with water spray through it. Mom says I can try the pool one of these days.

Farewell

Today is our last day in the island as afafa has left the company for greener (drier) pasture. I shall miss the baby turtles, the sharks, the sergeant fishes, the hermit crabs, the monitor lizards, the fruit bats who are parts and parcels of the island. I will also miss sitting on the swing after dinner as well as making pretend salad while waiting for my parents to finish their coffee. It will be long before I can hear again the pounding of waves underneath our room or taking a walk in an empty beach searching for tiny shells. We've been in the island for the past two years and I am sure I will feel quite weird having used to the life there. I will miss our room Druzy and not forgetting the spagetti cheese! Mom told me, may be one fine day we could come back to the island for a holiday...

To all at Gem Island, thank you for the memory

Bloodline

This is the photo of my great grandmother (atuk's mom) and her siblings, circa early 60s. Only atuk is able to recognise who's who in this picture. Mom only able to recognise her grandmother and another 3 grandmas. Mom says she will keep this photo for me to keep when I grow up.

My Little Nest

This is one of the turtle nests in the turtle sanctuary at the resort. If you see closely, you could see my name there. I helped Uncle Roni buried the turtle eggs and he promised to put my name at the nest. It was really nice since the date is just a day before my 6th birthday.

Birthday...birthday..birthday

It's 12 September! I have been waiting ages for this day to come...it's my birthday! This year, it comes on the 3rd hari raya, afafa has promised to make a little party but he said depends on the guests at the resort...hmmm.
At 3 p.m. true to his words, I have my party...not many attended just us and few of the resort's staff but I am still very happy. Mom has asked Mak Teh to buy me a cheesecake and Uncle Zam has kindly prepared nuggets and to my surprise there's pulut kuning with chicken curry!
The highlight of the day is when I get to open my presents! Thank you so much for the presents, I am indeed the happiest girl in the world today!

Mom: Petshop cow with ice cream shop
Afafa: Barbie Mermaid Princess with glittery dolphin
Nenek: Disney Princess Stickers
Mak Teh: Beach Ball, Poncho, Mermaid Princess Book
Mokti: Petshop swan and bee
Cik Eay: Petshop hermit crab
Aman: Jeans & t-shirt
Abg2 at GIR: cash

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri

Hari Raya is here! We are celebrating our raya in the resort as afafa has to work. Afafa said he is sad because this year he still has to work and could not go back to his kampung during hari raya.
These photos are taken in the evening shortly before we went out for dinner. We did not wear our baju kurung in the morning as it was raining quite heavily...so mom dressed me in my new jeans and blouse for raya breakfast. Mom was sad that we did not get to eat raya food in the morning, only after mid-morning we get to eat lemang, ketupat palas, satay and rendang.
In the evening there was a barbeque at the resort but still not much of raya food. Mom said it would be nice to eat lontong or laksa johor. We don't feel much like hari raya here, everyone is busy working...how sad. It was a gloomy raya with the rain and all...the only nice thing was that we are all together and I actually get some duit raya!
SELAMAT HARI RAYA

EleFriends

These are the elephants of Kuala Gandah, we went to Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary on our way back from abang's school in Raub. We passed the junction to this place on our way back to Terengganu and afafa decided we could take a look at the place..wow! It's another 10 km drive away from the junction but it was worth it! The elephants are placed in a well kept garden and they are well taken care of. Mom says it's good to see the handlers are not using sharp object on the elephants. This place is under Malaysia Wildlife Department and there are many elephants there! I saw 3 baby elephants bathed in the nearby river and later we were allowed to feed them bananas and peanuts. We can also bathe with the elephants but afafa said since this is a fasting month and we still have long way to go we shall do this some other time. I had great fun, later we went to Deerland to see the deers and sun bears but the place is closed on friday...hmmm..I guess Meow had to wait for our next visit to Raub before she could see her other friends.

Heart Desire

I love drawing and one day I want to be a painter and have my own gallery. My mom has promised to enrol me into an art class when I am 7 years old so that I can learn more about drawings and paintings.

Wedding..again

More photos from the wedding: here the couple are wearing purple for the majlis in Kuala Terengganu. I am wearing a pretty baju kurung that matches mom's. Mak Teh wears a beautiful long lace dress, I love the trimmings on her dress.

Mom's family: her aunt nenek ajib, mokti, aman, mom's cousins ancik dadan, uncle shahrul, mama eza n adik nadia.

Here comes the bride...

Mak Teh's big day is finally here...we are all gathered at nenek's house for the wedding. Even atuk's families from Johor are here, all my other younger neneks and atuks, not to mention countless aunties and uncles! But the best thing is I get to see kakak bila, abang abil, natrah & adik nadia who come all the way from Melaka.
Luckily my afafa get a few days leave so it's more fun for me having him around. Everyone is so busy with things...which I don't know what..well..to occupy our time mom puts on 613 for us. I think it's more like to ensure we won't disturb her or other adults! We watched TV and played to our hearts content...I like this wedding..
Mak Teh looks so pretty in her wedding dress, she wears cream colored baju kurung for the akad nikah and later changed into brown dress with lots of bling bling for the photo session. All of us are wearing brown..which is a source of joke for mom and mak teh as they are calling each other 'brown cow'..well looks like the pot is calling the kettle black! (don't know if I got this right or the other way round).
If u see in the picture, I am sitting right next to a hantaran..a sireh junjung without the junjung! I  love the way they do up this particular hantaran and my mak teh has generously give this to me!!! I know marriage is good for her...I can use this as house for my pet shops..how they'll love their new glittery and glamorous home...thanks mak teh, you're the best.

Mak Teh: A New Beginning

So much kecoh2 lately revolving around Mak Teh..suddenly all the attentions are centred around her..hmmh! Her big day is drawing near and everybody is concerned about her hantaran, her dresses even to the deco of her boudoir! My grandparents are sure very excited as they get to organise another wedding...the last wedding in the family was 7 years ago! How do I feel???..hard to say..excited?? irritated?? Mak Teh has been pestering me to say out loud to her and everyone the name of her groom...why should I? I am sure everyone is aware of the name...you don't marry someone with no name, right? I don't want to tell!!!
Today we went to see Mak Teh's new school...yes..she is coming back to setlle down in terengganu. I don't know the school's name but it is sure is far and away...let's just say the school is nestled in a lush green forest (another word for dalam hutan!). Mak Teh is supposed to see the person in charge to report duty but there was nobody there. So off we go..back to nenek's home and 613!!!!
It seems that Mak Teh has a lot to do in such a short period...all the best in your new endeavours...
Remember...when the going gets tough, the tough goes shopping!!!

Dolphins!!!

We saw dolphins!!!! We were on our way to the mainland when the boatman suddenly stop the boat, we thought there was something wrong but...he pointed to the middle of the sea and we saw some movements. Suddenly...dolphins!!! They were frolicking near our boats, I saw 4 of them but there were 2 other groups nearby. The dolphins were grey, big and beautiful.
We didn't believe the dolphins swam really near to the boat but afafa said they are friendly and they are known to follow boats...it's like a game for them. We spotted some dolphins last year but only from far..this time we could almost touch them!

...to fish or not to fish...

It's 6 o'clock and we were ready to go...where? A boat ride around the islands, Pulau Gemia and Pulau Kapas. Mom strapped me into a life jacket and off we went!!!! We went slowly around the resort, mom busied herself with the camera (someone has a new hobby...) and to my amazement afafa took out a fishing rod! Huh!!! No fishing in the Marine Park! But afafa and uncle roni were smart enough to stay away from the resort area. We went to the back of Pulau Kapas where the sea is a bit choppy and slowly cruised back to Pulau Gemia.
Did we catch any fish??? Fortunately NO...

Trip to the Zoo

Afafa and mom took me to the Kemaman Mini Zoo yesterday..I love zoo but this one is a BIG dissappointment! Well... there aren't many animals there and I think the animals are not properly taken care of! A pair of sunbears are kept in a small concrete enclosure without any plants/trees whatsoever...The bears look so miserable! The only exhibit that I like to see is the big arapaima aka dragon fish...they are soooo huge! Although the trip wasn't that exciting, I am still very happy as I get to spend the whole day with my parents.

The Matriarch

This is my great grandmother (atuk's mom) Hajah Fatanah Hj Abdul Hanan. Nenek nyang is in Johor and staying with mom's aunties. I seldom see her but mom talks about her frequently, said nenek nyang makes the most wonderful roti pratha (roti canai). Whenever mom (when she was small) went back to her kampung in Permas Kelapa, Kukup nenek nyang would prepare the dough at night and after the subuh prayer she'd knead them and later fried them with ghee. I didn't get the chance to taste her delicacies as she is now in her 90s and no longer cooks.

Fun Day

Last thursday my friends from Penang came to visit us at the island. We played at the beach and had lunch together, later we went back to swim and kayak. I had a wonderful time and wished the day never end...thank you for coming for uncle rosdi, cik da, ayong, abg ngah, kak yang, aina n aini.

We are family

" I love you, you love me, we are happy family.." Barney

These are my big family...the pictures are taken few years back as it is quite difficult to get everyone except during raya time.
Furthermore for the last 2 years, we celebrated our raya on our own so we didn't get to take new family photo.

Lunch is served...

I love feeding my little friends during lunch hour in the island. The menu is the left over toasts from breakfast time...just look how fast they gobble up the pieces of bread.

Penyu

I was quietly minding my own business in the bathroom when I heard mom calling my name.."what is it now...can't she just let me play for a while"...apparently afafa called and informed her the babies are here!!! Yes..the first batch of  baby turtles just hatched and I can't wait to see them! So we hurried to the nesting place and there they are....82 little turtles crawling around!!! They are soo..cute...uncle awang found them crawling out and informed afafa. I wanted to touch them..but mom didn't let me..said the babies are too fragile for my handling..(sigh).
We went home after uncle awang put the babies inside the pool...I preferred to stay longer but mom was getting irritable as she hadn't had her shower and it was already 8.30p.m. I'd better follow her home...
Afafa came with us and informed a turtle was sighted at the beach near the spa area...told us we had to wait till she laid her eggs. Wow...I got to watch a mommy turtle!! She's big and huge and she laid 125 eggs....and I managed to touch her!!! (afafa let me just before she went back to the sea). It was really great night for me...

Roots 1

This is my grandmother's house in Melaka. The house has been around for generations..afafa said the house is about 100 years old or more..wow..My afafa was born and grow up in this house many many years ago. There are a lot of fruit trees around the house...I particularly like to eat the rambutans and afafa would pick the whole lot of them for us to eat. I love coming home to afafa's kampung; there are lots of things to do, places to go and people to meet (although sometimes I'm not too friendly). My afafa loves it here but most of the time we could not stay long as afafa has to work.

Sunday 4 April 2010

Turtles are back...

I just found out from my last visit to afafa's work place that the turtle season is back...I just love turtles!!! I remember from the last season we went to watch the turtle laid eggs...it was as big as a table! The eggs were brought back to the resort (they have a little sanctuary there) and buried in the sand. After two months I could see little turtles coming out of the sands...well...sometimes they came out with 'little help' from unseen hands!!! The babies were kept for a while in a big pond so they get stronger. What I love most is when the turtles were released back to the sea...it was such great feeling to see them crawled back to the sea (to think that they were brought to the shore but can still find their way to the water). I just love turtles and can't wait for this season's new babies...

Cave of Wonders

I went exploring one day and I ventured inside this cave of wonder. It was a low tide so I was able to go in the cave. I saw lots of debris from the sea stuck on the rocks in the cave. I couldn't stay long as the tide was coming in (see the picture below) but I am sure to come and explore again.

What a night!

Ever experience how it feels like in the oven? Well...I did...in my own room. It was so warm lately and I could hardly sleep, I whined and whined and eventually cried but still couldn't get the heat to go away. Mom tried to help by placing extra fan in the room (I already had 2) but to no avail. I don't know how long I could bear sleeping in the oven-inspired room but I am hoping something could be done. We couldn't do much as this is a rented house although secretly I am wishing for some sort of miracle to happen...sigh...(to mom: sorry to keep you awake all night, it feels good to experience this together)

Hair Day

Guess what??? I went for a hair cut (no..hair trim) today. After much persuasion from mom and afafa I agreed for a hair trim (both parents agreed not to cut my hair short.)We went to a place nearby and I was made to sit on a high chair. The lady trimmed (only a bit) my hair to make it nicer...and actually used a blow dryer!!! I could see mom's expression of bewilderment from the mirror...she knows how ticklish I can be especially near my ears and it is very extremely ticklish!!!! I was gigling when the lady used the blow dryer as I can feel the swoosh of winds on my ear....what an experience.

Look at me

Look at me, me, me...I'm six,six,six...I'm happy as I can be, be, be...can you tell...can you see...I'm a very happy me!
